Gujarat stamp duty and registration
Gujarat levies stamp duty of 4.9% and a registration fee of 1% on the transaction value of the property, paid when the sale deed is registered at the sub-registrar office.
When a property is registered in a woman's sole name, a registration-fee concession has applied. Rules change between budgets, so confirm the current position before you register.
Stamp duty is charged on the higher of the declared value or the government jantri (ready-reckoner) rate, so a very low declared price does not always reduce the duty.
These charges are durable state rules. The Dholera plot price itself is not officially fixed.
