Dholera is being positioned as an AI-ready data centre location, and there are two reports worth separating. First, in June 2026 Gujarat reportedly approved a 250 MW green, AI-ready data centre at Dholera SIR with a planned investment of about Rs 25,000 crore. Second, a much larger data-centre hub of up to 7.5 GW, reported at around Rs 3 lakh crore and linked to Adani through AdaniConneX, has been announced. Both are reported or announced rather than built, and neither is confirmed operational. The credible basis for a data-centre pitch is real: clean solar power, land and connectivity. But no Dholera data centre is live yet, so these are plans, not facts.
Data centres are one of the newest threads in the Dholera story, and they arrive with big numbers attached. That makes it important to separate what has been approved from what has only been announced, and to be clear that neither is operational yet. This page sorts the two main reports, gives the sourced figures with their labels, and explains why a data-centre pitch for Dholera is credible on fundamentals even though nothing is running today. As always, we use dated, labelled figures and refuse to present an announcement as a built asset.
The short answer
There are two data-centre reports for Dholera. One is a 250 MW green, AI-ready data centre reportedly approved by Gujarat in June 2026 with a planned investment of about Rs 25,000 crore. The other is a far larger hub of up to 7.5 GW, reported at around Rs 3 lakh crore and associated with Adani through AdaniConneX, which is an announcement rather than an approval. Both are reported or announced, not confirmed operational. No Dholera data centre is live yet, so treat these as plans with sourced figures, not delivered infrastructure.
Report one: the 250 MW green data centre
In June 2026 it was reported that Gujarat approved a 250 MW green, AI-ready data centre at Dholera SIR with a planned investment of about Rs 25,000 crore. This adds hyperscale and AI infrastructure to the node's roster of anchor tenants. The word to hold onto is approved: an approval is a real step, further along than a mere expression of interest, but it is not the same as a built or operating facility. It signals intent and a green light, and it should be tracked toward construction and commissioning before it counts as delivered capacity.
Report two: the larger Adani hub
Separately, a much larger data-centre ambition has been reported: a hub of up to 7.5 GW, with a figure of around Rs 3 lakh crore, associated with Adani through AdaniConneX, its data-centre joint venture. This is at the announced or interest stage in the record we rely on, not an approval or a build. The scale is enormous, which is exactly why it deserves caution: a 7.5 GW figure is an ambition, and the responsible way to present it is as a reported announcement with its source, never as committed or operating capacity.
| Project | Reported figure | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Green AI-ready data centre | 250 MW, ~Rs 25,000 cr | Reported approved, June 2026 |
| Adani / AdaniConneX hub | Up to 7.5 GW, ~Rs 3 lakh cr | Announced / interest stage |
| Operational capacity | None | No Dholera data centre live yet |
Why the data-centre pitch is credible
Even without an operating facility, the underlying case is reasonable, which is why the reports exist. Modern AI data centres want three things Dholera is building toward: abundant clean power, large blocks of land, and reliable connectivity. Dholera has about 300 MW of solar commissioned with a much larger target, substantial planned industrial land, and improving links through the operational expressway, an airport under construction and a Cabinet-cleared rail line. A green, AI-ready data centre is a natural fit for a location that can supply renewable power at scale.
- Clean power: the solar park offers renewable capacity, attractive for green data-centre branding and cost.
- Land: the master plan reserves large industrial parcels suitable for hyperscale campuses.
- Connectivity: the operational expressway plus planned rail and airport improve access and, over time, fibre and logistics.
- Anchor gravity: the semiconductor fab and industrial base make Dholera a plausible digital-infrastructure node, not an isolated field.
How to track it
The way to follow the data-centre thread is to watch the 250 MW approved project move toward construction and commissioning, and to treat the larger 7.5 GW Adani number as an ambition until a primary source confirms a build. Data centres are among the faster infrastructure to construct once land, power and permits are secured, so if the fundamentals hold, this is a sector where announced could become operational relatively quickly. Until then, the honest status is a promising, well-sourced plan with nothing yet live. For the wider anchor picture, see our industries and sectors page.
